Director of Clinical Therapy
Scott Coonen’s own experience with physical therapy after suffering a high-school track injury inspired him to become a physical therapist. Scott received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1995. In 2001, he earned his certificate from the National Strength Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. The focus of his continuing education has been on spinal dysfunction, sports medicine, and general orthopedic conditions. Much of his course work has been with the Michigan State School of Osteopathic Medicine, where the focus was on teaching the manual approach to therapy. This approach has taught Scott to find the cause of his patients’ pain rather than just treating their symptoms.
Scott spent five years working for a private practice in Northeastern Wisconsin before joining Freedom Physical Therapy. He particularly enjoys working in the private sector as he feels he can better focus on the quality of care through one-on-one time with his patients.
Scott is affiliated with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
In his free time, Scott enjoys golfing, down-hill skiing, traveling, and reading about history.
