The Healing Power of Gentle Touch
Craniosacral Therapy is a type of manual therapy using light-touch to gently manipulate structures affecting the cerebrospinal fluid. Because the cerebrospinal fluid is in the dural membrane system, it allows the therapist access to the core nervous system. Through the palpation of the system, the therapist is able to discern where there are restrictions in the tissues and release them using safe and gentle techniques. Treatment assists in releasing tensions deep in the body, leading to physical and mental balance, relief of pain and dysfunction, and improved function.
As we endure stresses and strains, our body tissues absorb them, but can only handle so much tension before they begin to loose their flexibility and adaptability. This restriction may adversely affect the brain and spinal cord leading to compromised function of the central nervous system as well as nearly every other system in our bodies. This therapy helps release these tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self correct. By freeing the central nervous system, craniosacral therapy naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens resistance to disease and enhances overall health and well being.
Some of diagnoses that may benefit from Craniosacral Therapy include:
