Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema is persistent swelling in any area of the body, most commonly the arms or legs. It often occurs when lymph nodes are removed during surgery, damaged following infection, trauma or scar formation. This results in limited or blocked flow of lymphatic fluid, which leads to buildup in the tissue.
Signs or symptoms of lymphedema may include:
- Persistent swelling in the arms or legs
- Thickened, lumpy skin
- Tenderness or soreness
- Fatigue
While lymphedema cannot be cured, swelling is often significantly reduced and controlled with manual therapy, exercise, compression, education, and a home management program. Certified Manual Lymphatic Therapists at Freedom provide these comprehensive services.
Our Therapists also offer G5 Cellutec ™ treatment technology. This state of the art non-invasive therapy enhances function of the lymphatic and circulatory system, appearance of tissues, muscle, skin and scalp.
