What is Speech Therapy?

Speech disorders can affect how clearly a person speaks, the sound or strength of their voice, and the natural rhythm or flow of speech. These challenges can impact children and adults alike, often leading to frustration or reduced confidence in everyday communication.

At Freedom Physical Therapy Services, we understand how important clear, comfortable speech is to daily life—whether you're a child learning to form sounds, a professional who uses their voice all day, an adult post-stroke experiencing slurred speech,or someone navigating a fluency disorder like stuttering. Our skilled speech-language pathologists offer individualized care plans tailored to your unique needs and goals.

We work with individuals experiencing:

  • Articulation Disorders – trouble producing specific speech sounds or speaking clearly

  • Phonological Disorders - difficulties producing sounds in a consistent form or pattern (i.e. cup to tup)
  • Dysarthria -  difficulties articulating words due to damage or dysfunction (i.e., stroke or traumatic brain injury) in muscles and nerves that control speech.
  • Voice disorders – hoarseness, vocal fatigue, strain, or pitch issues

  • Fluency disorders – stuttering or cluttering that disrupts speech flow

Using evidence-based therapy techniques, we focus on building awareness, strengthening the muscles involved in speech, enhancing breath support, and developing strategies for smooth, confident communication. Whether therapy involves improving speech clarity, reducing vocal strain, or developing tools to manage stuttering, we’re here to support you every step of the way—helping you speak with greater comfort, clarity, and confidence.
